DESCRIPTION:

You can’t come to Merida without learning and experiencing its culture. Our breakfast starts at a Mayan taco stand that is probably the most iconic here in Merida. From there you will be driven to the Monumento a La Patria where you will have a chance to walk around it and take some fabulous pictures. As we head back to the Centro area and Plaza Grande, you will enjoy the drive down our famous Paseo de Montejo.

Once at Plaza Grande you can enjoy the kissing chairs, the Merida letters and the park in general. Because there is so much on our agenda today, we will only visit the cathedral and the Governor’s office. But please come back and explore on another day! You can’t understand Merida without going to the Lucas Galvez Mercado, so that is our next stop.

As mentioned before, time will only allow us to browse a couple of locations at this huge market. But you will definitely have the opportunity to buy a few things if there is something you think you need. Upon leaving the Galvez we head back to La Ermita where you will learn a little of its importance to the history of Merida, then off to the General Cemetery. The beautiful structures here are breathtaking, and the picture taking opportunities are endless.

I know this has been a very full morning, so we head out of town to a beautiful hacienda where lunch is served, and where you can either relax by the pool or head over to their gorgeous open air man made cenote which is on their grounds.

As with all our tours, this one includes round trip transportation from our office located in the Centro Colonial of La Ermita, breakfast, lunch, destination welcome beverage, admission fees, and a goodie bag with local Yucatecan products. However, if you think you received exceptional service from you location guides, please tip them. Their tips are their income.

It’s our goal here at Authentic Yucatan Tours to give our clients a chance to experience the locations we take you to, not just show them to you. We strive to make every tour you take with us “An Experience of a Lifetime”.
